July 17, 2006

Handbook To Feature Ultimate Collection Of Riding Tips, How-To Advice, Travel Lists And Survival Secrets

South San Francisco, CA - Future Snowboarding Magazine hits newsstands with the most extensive collection of expert advice and tips ever published about snowboarding, The Snowboarder’s Handbook. The handbook will feature riding tips, how-to advice, travel lists and survival secrets for snowboarders of all skill levels.

The 160-page book will be released twice on newsstands in North America: once on August 15 when snowboard products start hitting store shelves and again on November 21 in time for the holiday buying season. It will retail for $9.99 USD and $12.99 CAD.

In true Future Snowboarding fashion, The Snowboarder’s Handbook will speak to riders with wit and humor and provide them with a fun read. Illustrated by renowned punk-rock artist Scrojo, the book will be a collector’s item for any snowboarding enthusiast.

The Snowboarder’s Handbook will feature five chapters, each covering a broad spectrum of snowboarding and snow-lifestyle situations:
• Ride Better — Pro snowboarders, including Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott, and other experts will provide exclusive tips—accompanied by photos and illustrations—to help riders of all levels handle everything from riding steeper terrain to winning a snowboard cross race to managing a deep powder run.
• Shop Smarter — From buying new equipment to understanding how long your gear will last, experts will teach riders how to be savvy snowboard shoppers.
• Travel Tips — The pros will give recommendations for the 24 hottest snowboard destinations across the globe. Editors will break down the vertical feet you’re getting per dollar at the nation’s most expensive resorts and reveal and provide details on the five best terrain parks in North America. Also included will be a comprehensive list of resort contact information so readers will have a single reference for checking weather reports and other crucial resort information.
• Survival Tactics — Whether it’s surviving an avalanche or finding romance on a chairlift, The Showboarder’s Handbook will educate and entertain readers while providing them with everything they want and need to know but were afraid to ask.
• Do It Yourself — Editors will not only teach the basics of waxing a board or setting up perfect bindings, but will also show how to take better photos and video that will make any snowboarding hobbyist into a pro in no time. Also, experts will weigh in on what kinds of repairs can be done at home and which ones are best suited for a professional.

"The Snowboarder's Handbook will stay fresh for years to come,” says editor Robyn Lass. “The format allows readers to devour it from cover to cover or pick it up for a quick reference. No snowboarder should be without it."
