Guitar World launches Metal, Hardcore & Heavy Music site, MetalKult

July 17, 2007

New York, NY (July 17, 2007) – Future US’ Guitar World, the world’s biggest magazine for guitarists, has stacked its digital Marshall amplifiers tall and loud for the launch of MetalKult (http://www.metalkult.com), devoted to ultimate extreme metal, hardcore rock and its rabid fan base.

MetalKult is one of the only extreme music sites to feature exclusive video content, in this case filmed, edited and produced by the Guitar World staff. Senior Editor Brad Angle and Photo Editor Jimmy Hubbard have been hitting New York City’s concert venues to conduct video interviews with musicians and capture exclusive performance footage. The result is a web site with content that greatly surpasses that of its competitors in quality and depth.

For example, MetalKult offers multi-part video interview with Celtic Frost’s Thomas Fischer and Martin Ain, filmed at the band’s New York City tour stop in May, as well as an exclusive Watain concert clip, a Bloodsimple rehearsal, and much more.

The site also features daily underground music news, classic audio and video of legendary extreme metal bands, and exclusive contests. One special treat is the posting of MP3 files from Possessed's original "Death Metal" 1984 demo tape.

GuitarWorld.com Online Creative Director Ben Shapiro built the site and the forums, while noted metal artist John Baizley designed all the artwork, including the wickedly metallic MetalKult logo.

“We will be actively promoting MetalKult through Guitar World magazine and GuitarWorld.com, as well as alerting the ravenous underground metal masses of its existence,” says Anthony Danzi, the Group Publishing Director of Future US’ music division.
