Senior Software Engineer (Python) - South San Francisco, CA

The Senior Software Engineer will work in a new business unit in the rapidly growth internet group at Future US. The new business unit will be a primary internet investment for Future US and highly visible to both Future US and Future plc executive management. The business will be built on acquired technology and will interface with all special interest verticals within Future US and its sister company in the United Kingdom, Future Publishing Limited.

The position is based in our South San Francisco office and reports to the Director of Internet Technology.

Responsibilities
* Build new features and products on a high-volume social media analysis application
* Employ strong object-oriented design
* Stay abreast of the latest advances in text analysis and trends in social media
* Improve performance and extend scalability to support large repositories of data
* Maintain test coverage for all application functions
Qualifications
* Strong object-oriented programming skills (5+ years in Python, Java, or C++)
* Strong CS fundamentals
* Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL
* Excellent problem-solving ability
* Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA)
* Plusses: Python, MySQL experience, text analysis, topic modeling, grid computing, web crawling
